Feels Like Home

When my head’s underwater I can hold my breath longer
Than I do when I wander on the land
Then my mind’s free to travel and my thoughts can unravel
Or dissolve like a castle made of sand

Some rise, some fall, I listen for the ocean call
Some swim, some sink, I’m looking for the missing link

Between your heartbeat and my own
It’s the one relief I’ve known
I’ve been told that love feels just like drowning
I’ve been told that drowning feels like home

What began as a cycle has devolved to a spiral
Where I fight for survival in the tide
When the coastline is foggy, I slip out of my body
And declare that it’s not me who has died
